How to buy one Japanese card on Buyee

The order of payments when you use Buyee for a single Yu-Gi-Oh card, and which lines show up before the card ships.

Buyee is a proxy. You do not have a Japanese address, so they buy the listing and later ship the parcel out of Japan. For one card the sequence is short, and the surprise is almost always the second invoice.

What you pay first

On the Buyee Cart fee page, the first payment is:

The plan page is where Lite, Inspection (¥300), Insured delivery (¥500), and Standard (¥500) are listed. Standard is insured delivery plus an inspection. Lite is the one to pick if you are comfortable judging the photos yourself and you do not want the extra ¥500.

What you pay later

After the card reaches the warehouse you pay domestic shipping, international shipping, and whatever tax the destination makes them collect. Domestic shipping is the seller’s charge inside Japan. If the Mercari listing already says 送料込み, type ¥0 for that line in the calculator. Buyee’s own domestic rate page also describes a ¥500 service fee on top of carrier cost. Turn that on only if your checkout shows it.

International shipping is not knowable from the listing. Buyee says they weigh the box at the warehouse. The calculator’s postage menu is Japan Post’s published rate, marked Estimate, until you paste their number.

A single card, practically

Use a title that includes the set code and the Japanese rarity. For YAC1 that means YAC1-JP073 and either シークレット or ウルトラ, plus カラー or モノクロ. The rarity checker flags the titles that skip those words.

Pay the first invoice only after the yen price plus ¥500 still looks right in dollars. The second invoice is the one people describe as “the card was cheap and the shipping was not.” Run both halves in the calculator before you bid, using EMS up to 500g as the cautious postage and Air Packet up to 200g as the hopeful one.

Buyee’s beginner guide lists their own payment fee as ¥0. Your card issuer can still add a foreign transaction fee. That field defaults to 0% because many cards do not charge one.

Questions

When do you pay Buyee?

Buyee splits the bill. You pay the item, the purchase fee, and the plan when you order. You pay domestic shipping, international shipping, and any tax Buyee collects after the parcel reaches their warehouse.

Is the Buyee purchase fee per card?

The page checked on 13 October 2026 lists ¥500 per order, not per card. A plan fee can sit on top of that.
